ABOUT ME:

Trina Fernandez received a BA in Photography from California State University Sacramento right before Instagram premiered on the app market. Finding ourselves now living in front of the camera, Trina is interested in how we convey complex emotions in a society that communicates almost exclusively through images and media. An embarrassing amount of personal stories are shared through a mix of outdated technology, merchandise, and accessible methods of design to connect the many forms of identity we encounter in the 21st century.

We have have so many images, what can we do with them? How far can we go in terms of recreating, selling, buying memories.

Trina graduated with an MFA in Visual Studies during the pandemic and has presented work and research on photography and social media theory at PCA/ACA, SECAC, and the Smart Museum of Art at the University of Chicago. She lives the non-profit life in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she works at Soo Visual Arts Center and Springboard for the Arts. She also serves on the Board of Directors for a really cool rock music camp for gals and non-binary folk called She-Rock She-Rock.

She is currently developing a series of workshops under the name of the Center of Photography for Non-Photographers (CPNP) to get people more engaged with the social content they create.
